Help with the Directory

The Colorado Crime Victim Services Directory, COVA's online directory of victim services, is available to any person seeking information about victim services in Colorado. With a few simple keystrokes, you can search for service providers throughout the State of Colorado: Find victim service agencies in specific geographic areas; Find agencies by specific service type; Look at the entire roster of agencies; and more.

The Directory contains all agencies that choose to be listed. This informational tool was made possible by grant funding from the 1st and 18th Judicial District VALE Boards. The directory is intended to assist people in finding available victim services anywhere in Colorado, and to provide victim service professionals and other interested parties instant access to information regarding other professional organizations. COVA hopes that creating immediate and easy access to these services will enable the victim service community to better serve all crime victims.

Information collection and database design occurred throughout the first half of 2005 and will be updated as appropriate. COVA welcomes any comments or suggestions regarding the online directory. Please call 303-861-1160, 800-261-2682 or email us at Colleen@ColoradoCrimeVictims.org. Thank you and we hope you find this effort worthwhile.

How To Use The Directory

The Directory is divided into three primary sections and is searchable in many ways. You may search by Agency Name, by a Specific Service, or by examining one of several agency listings. Once your listing is displayed, you may click on the name of the agency you are looking for, and a full description of that agency, including contact information and services provided, appears. The "Last Updated" date appears in the lower left-hand corner to show how recent the record is.

Agency Name
If you know the name of the agency you are looking for, simply type the name, a portion of it, or the acronym into the field and click on the "go" button.

Specific Service
Click on the "Search for a Specific Service" text. A screen with check box options appears. You have multiple choices under four headings: County, Type of Victimization, Type of Service Provided, and Agency Type. You do not have to check boxes under every heading (this supplies broader search results), and you may check multiple boxes under each heading (this supplies narrower search results). Simply check the elements relevant to your search and then click on the "search" button at the bottom of the page. A list of agencies matching your search criteria will appear on your screen. (Note: If your search was not successful, try broadening your search by checking fewer boxes.)

Display All Agencies
This section gives you the opportunity to display all listed agencies under four different headings: All Agencies, All Agencies by Judicial District, All Agencies by Type, and All Agencies by County.

bullet All Agencies - Click on the "Display All Agencies: text. An alphabetical listing of the entire database is displayed. At the top of the page above the agency results banner, you may click on a letter of the alphabet to take you to the listings beginning with the letter "A."

bullet Judicial District - Click on the "Display All Agencies by Judicial District" text. A checkbox listing of judicial district numbers, with a statewide option at the end, appears. You may check one or more of the judicial district boxes and then click the 'search" button. Or, if you are unsure of the judicial district number(s), you may scroll down the page and click on the area of the map that represents the area you desire results from. An alphabetical listing of the agencies that provide services in the chosen district(s) appears.

bullet Agency Type - Click on the "Display all Agencies by Type" text. A checkbox listing of agency types appears. You may check one or more of the listed options and then click the "search" button. An alphabetical listing of those agencies that match your search criteria appears.

bullet Counties - click on the "Display All Agencies by County" text. A checkbox listing of counties, with a statewide option at the end, appears. You may check one or more of the county name boxes and then click the "search" button. An alphabetical listing of the agencies that provide services in the chose county(s) appears.
