Ongoing - HealthBridge Alliance's F.I.R.S.T. Workshop (Finding Inner Resiliency for Secondary Trauma) to build resiliency against secondary trauma and compassion fatigue, revitalize your passion for your work, and learn to care for yourself. For the Workshop Schedule, click here.

Ongoing - Ending Violence Against Women Project A Multi-disciplinary Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Training Program. The EVAW Project conducts trainings for persons working with domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking cases, including: law enforcement, prosecutors, judges, victim advocates, social workers, probation officers, and all other professionals and interested community members. Ongoing - Master's in Criminal Justice Degree Program on Domestic Violence (PDV)  Offered by the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center Graduate School of Public Affairs.  For more information, a list of courses offered, and/or to register, click here.

Ongoing - County Sheriff's of Colorado/Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police are introducing a new crime scene series for patrol officers and experienced investigators in the NE region of Colorado. For more information, click here.

Ongoing - On-Line Training Institute (OLTI), developed by End Violence Against Women (EVAW) International, brings state-of-the art training to anyone who is interested, on the topic of criminal justice response to sexual assault. This On-Line Training Institute provides the opportunity for interested professionals to expand their knowledge of cutting-edge developments in the criminal justice and community response to sexual assault, with particular emphasis on those crimes committed by someone who is known to the victim (i.e. non-strangers). Local (Colorado) Training

July 8-10, 2009 - Working Together Today for a Safer Tomorrow, SOMB/DVOMB 3rd Annual Conference This conference will feature a Sex Offender/Offense Specific track and a Domestic Violence Offense Specific track. Workshops and presentations of 120 minutes will be held concurrently during breakout sessions. Click for more information.

July 13-17, Denver Grantsmanship Training Program Hosted by Mile High Youth Corps. East Montclair Community Center, 6740 E. Colfax. Designed by The Grantsmanship Center for both novice and advanced grant seekers, the training program is a hands-on learning experience that covers all aspects of researching grants, writing grant proposals, and negotiating with funding sources. Participants will learn how to locate new funding sources and will work with a team to prepare an actual proposal for funding. Upon completion of the workshop, graduates receive a year of free follow-up services, including professional proposal review and access to comprehensive online databases of foundation, corporate and government funding sources. Tuition is $895; a limited number of half-tuition scholarships are available for organizations with annual budgets of less than $300,000. Enrollment is limited to 30 participants. July 18, 2009 - Spiritual Healing and Recovery Introductory Workshop Sponsored by Mary's Hope, this training will take place from 8:45am - 5:00pm at the Good shepherd Episcopal Church, 8545 E. Dry Creek Road, Centennial, CO. This is an opportunity to explore the spiritual effects of abuse, the spiritual development of the child, and a view of the healing journey, with practicum. The workshop is for survivors of childhood abuse, and those who care for them: family, friends, adoptive and foster parents, mental heal providers, victim service providers, clergy, spiritual directors. July 23, 2009 - Stress Management and Emotional Survival This training will be hosted by the Glendale Police Department at the Glendale Event Center, 4400 E. Kentucky Ave, Glendale. Cost is $60 per person. This training is designed to help those in the law enforcement field identify the signs of work-related stress and/or PTSD, and to learn methods to address the symptoms. July 30, 2009 - COVA's Northeast Regional Meeting and VRA Training Join COVA members in the Northeast Region from 8:30am-Noon at the Greeley Police Department, 2875 W. 10th Street, Kent Donahue Comunity Room. The VRA training will take place from 8:30am-10am and be provided by COVA. The remainder of the time will be devoted to the Regional Meeting, which will include an explanation of 2 new programs at COVA: The Legal Clinic and the Statewide Human Trafficking Victim Service Provider Network Project. The training and meeting are free, but space is limited and registration is required. September 16-18, 2009 - 2009 Annual Conference, Colorado Association of Sex Crimes Investigators (CASCI) Silvertree Hotel& Resort, Snowmass Village. The conference includes a series of 4-hour workshops on Investigation and Prosecution of Cold Cases; Interviewing the Compliant Victim; Case Study: Hornbeck & Ownby Abduction; The Date Rapist, and The Sexual Assault Survivor. September 30-October 2, 2009 - National Professional Training Conference on Responding to Crime Victims with Disabilities This conference will serve to enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of providers to effectively serve people with disabilities who are victims of crime. The conference will facilitate partnerships among the fields of victim assistance, advocacy for persons with disabilities, and allied professions (e.g. adult and child protective service workers, faith-based practitioners, medical practitioners/forensic examiners, mental health practitioners, educators) for conference participation. November 2-5, 2009 - Lay Legal Advocacy Training: Advocacy in Domestic Violence Cases: A Lay Legal Advocates' Guide to Arizona Law This informative and innovative four day training provides the tools for advocates to assist domestic violence survivors with navigating Arizona’s judicial system. The training is designed to inform a diverse audience of advocates about domestic violence, legal advocacy and legal advocacy methods; build and further develop legal advocacy skills by educating the participants on the judicial process; educate advocates on civil and criminal law matters related to domestic violence (i.e. Orders of Protection, Divorce, Landlord-Tenant, Custody and more); and develop the confidence of advocates by empowering them with the tools they need to assist domestic violence survivors with obtaining justice within Arizona’s legal system.
