GENERAL INFORMATION: Victim Advocates provide on-scene contact with victims and witnesses of violent crime, sudden death, and other emergency situations. The City of Federal Heights is looking for dependable, caring individuals to become Volunteer Victim Advocates. No previous experience is necessary. Volunteers are required to undergo a thorough background screening including a criminal history check and complete 40 hours of training taught by professionals in the victim services field.Volunteer Victim Advocates are required to work four 12 hour of on call shifts each month, including weekends and occasional holidays. Volunteer Victim Advocates must be able to respond with in 30 minutes of a dispatch’s notification, and must be able to be available by pager. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, self motivated, have strong interpersonal skills, be able to maintain confidentiality and commit to at least 1 year of volunteering.

Volunteer Victim Advocate, Posted 01/11/2012
Victim Outreach Information, Golden CO
GENERAL INFORMATION: Victim Outreach Information (VOI) is currently accepting applications for Volunteer Victim Advocates. This position will offer you the opportunity to work directly on scene with crime victims and with law enforcement. Volunteer victim advocates are on call and respond to provide immediate crisis intervention to victims of crime and trauma, inform victims of their rights, support victims and their families, and provide information on the criminal justice system. VOI serves: Arvada, Wheat Ridge, Golden, Edgewater, Mountain View, Lakeside, Colorado School of Mines and Morrison. Forty hours of training will be provided, no experience necessary. Must be at least 21 years of age, submit to a background check and have the availability to volunteer 4-6 evening and weekend shifts per month. A one year commitment to the program is required.
