National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, April 18-24, 2010, will highlight “Crime Victims’ Rights: Fairness. Dignity. Respect.” These ideals are critical to the decades-long struggle for justice by victims and advocates.

Adams County - Adams County/17th Judicial District activities for Victims' Right's Week include: Monday, April 19, 9:30am, Adams County Commissioner Proclamation Reading at 450 South 4th Avenue, 6th Floor, Brighton; Monday, April 19, 10:30am, Victims' Right's Week Flag Raising, Adams County Sheriff's Office, 322 North 19th Ave., Brighton; Thursday, April 22, 5:30-7pm, Annual Reception, Denver Merchandise Mart, 451 East 59th Ave., Denver.
Arapahoe County - The Sheriffs Office Victim Assistance Program is hosting a Resource Fair and a Poster Contest with four different area high schools in honor of National Crime Victims' Right's Week. On April 22, the resource fair will open to the public at 6:30pm. Area agencies are asked to participate and help educate the public about the many different available resources in the community. In addition, they will be presenting a National Crime Victims' Rights Week Ceremony at 6:30pm. Aurora - The Arc of Aurora, and its collaborating partners, are kicking off National Crime Victims' Right's Week with a Responsive Responders: Working with Victims with Disabilities Conference. Information can be found at http://www.bit.ly/responsiveresponders
Boulder - In honor of National Crime Victims' Right's Week, the Boulder County District Attorney, Stan Garnett, and the Districat Attorney's Victim Assistance Unit, invites all to the 24th Annual Victim advocacy Awards and Reception on Friday, April 23, at 2pm. This event will be held at the Boulder County Justice Center, Jury Assembly Room, 6th and Canyon, Boulder. Wheel chair accessible, and ASL is available upon request (303-441-4701).
Colorado Springs - 3rd Annual National Crime Victims' Rights Week 5K/1Mile Fun Run/Walk - This 5K/1 Mile Fun Run/Walk is to honor Victims' Rights Week 2010. National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is a time set aside to build public awareness about the challenges crime victims face and to celebrate the hard won progress in victims’ rights and services. It is also a time to honor the professionals who assist and offer guidance, information, support, and encouragement to victims of crime in our communities. This year the 4th Judicial District’s CVRW Organizing Committee is hosting a contest with Art students from (William J.) Palmer High School, the winning design will be used on the Race T Shirt. Elbert County - 2010 Community Awareness Project The Elbert County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with various community agencies, will implement a “Crime Victims’ Rights: Fairness, Dignity and Respect” campaign designed to provide accurate education and awareness regarding victim services and community resources available to victims of crime who reside in Elbert County. The campaign will consist of a traveling educational and awareness display designed to give viewers a unique presentation of the dynamics of victimization and the rights and resources available to victims. The display will be transported to and displayed in various locations throughout the county April 18-24. The mobile display unit will have the advantage of being a highly visible means of accessing information on the dynamics of victimization and will also provide readily available contact information for agencies within the county which serve victims of crime. Jefferson County April 24, the 17th Annual Courage Walk will begin at the steps of the Jefferson County Courts and Administration Building and end at the Courage Garden. Lakewood - In recognition of National Crime Victims' Right's Week & Sexual Assault Awareness Month, plan to attend this presentation to the Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) - "What's the Harm?" The Victim Advocacy Committee of the SOMB will be providing information to the Board members on the impact and prevalence of sexual assault, and why the Board's work is so important in managing sexual offenders in our state. Your attendance demonstrates your support of survivors and emphasizes the responsibility of our community to keep victims safe. All are welcome to attend the SOMB meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 16th, at the NETI training facility, 12345 Alameda Parkway in Lakewood, CO.
Mesa County The Domestic Violence Academy 2010 will be held during Victim Rights Week on April 22 and 23. This 2nd Annual Event will be held in Grand Junction and is sponsored by the Mesa County Domestic Violence Task Force. A multidisciplinary conference for Law Enforcement Officers, Judicial staff, Social Workers, Counselors, Case Managers, Advocates, and anyone working with domestic violence victims. Registration is limited. In consideration of tight budgets, the Academy is FREE to Mesa County Residents; $75 for Non-Residents (CLE's are available for $75).
